Section 41.44 (a) (1) states that the deadline for residential homestead protests is May 1st or 30 days after the delivery of a value notice, whichever is later. Remember that a value notice is not required to be sent by the appraisal district if the appraised value does not increase from the previous year. This means that if the value remains the same as last year, then the protest deadline is May 1st. If the value is changed, then the protest deadline is June 1st. However, notices don't come out until after May 1st, so it's very important to err on the side of caution and protest before the May 1st deadline! You can protest using the form attached below. Please note that by submitting this form to your appraisal district, you are in no way obligated to use Preston Bend Properties services.

At PBP, we find that it isn’t enough in today’s market to rely on data from traditional sources alone. The truth is that the market extends beyond the data that can be obtained through traditional sources such as MLS. In this volatile market, private market data, tax data, land sales data, foreclosure sale data, all contribute to market value. By tracking this data in house, using our proprietary research, PBP offers a comprehensive and factual review of what is really happening in the Dallas market.
Our goal is to be the best, not the biggest. Our hands on, detailed approach provides exceptional service to our clients, that is second to none.

Property Tax Appeal-Your Duty

The property tax appeal process is the taxpayer's way of ensuring a checks and balance system is working in the place it has the most impact; locally. The appraisal district holds an enourmous amount of power, and without the appeal process, this power can run rampant, unchecked. The only threat to this power is the voice of the taxpayer, through protest and voting in local elections.
As landowners, it is our duty to ensure that land rights are protected, and that property taxes do not become so oppressive that they become a rent on an asset that is already owned. The founding fathers of this nation established in our constitution these land rights and it is our duty protect those rights. If we don't, who will?
